Welcome to Christo's!
That’s been our motto for 40 years. Originally from Detroit Michigan, the Cranias family has opened and operated over 20 independent restaurants between Detroit and Orlando. Most of our restaurants were called Christo’s. Named after our father and family patriarch, Chris Cranias….”The Old Man” as we used to call him. Papa Christo’s passed away several years ago, but the tradition lives on through his six children. “The Original Christo’s” in Downtown Sanford is our best effort to create a state of the art family oriented restaurant. Real Food For Real People is our mission! We don’t claim to be a health food restaurant or a trendy cafe. We are a grass roots family restaurant where friends and family can come, eat a great meal, and still leave with some money in their pocket.
Christo's Timeline & Facts:
1971 – Greek family known
as the Cranias Family establishes the first family-run restaurant called Christo’s Coney Island located in Detroit Michigan
1976 – Christo’s opened the second restaurant
at 8 Mile Rd in Detroit Michigan called Christo’s Family Dinning.
1979 – The Cranias family moved to Orlando to establish a new living and decided to open their first Florida restaurant on Colonial Drive in Orlando called Theodore’s.
1981 – The Cranias family opened their second restaurant in Lake Mary, Florida called Christo’s Family Dinning
1984 – At the request of the mayor and several other prominent City of Sanford leaders, the family open a new restaurant under the name, Christo’s Classics, a full service restaurant and catering facility. (Same location as “The Original Christo’s”)
1994 – Café Jakes opens in Sanford on 1st Street (Currently owned and operated by Three Blondes & A Shrimp)
1996 – Angelo’s Pizza & Family Restaurant opens in Downtown Sanford. (Same location as The Original Christo’s ).
2010 – The Cranias family establishes and opens our newest restaurant in Downtown Sanford Florida, called “The Originals Christo’s” an eclectic blending of our family’s history in the restaurant business and our vision for the Christo’s name into the future.
